How does it work?

Your house water pressure is the source of the energy needed to pump excess water out of the sump well. The unit is connected to your ¾” (model MG 22) or 1" (model MG 36) municipal water supply, after the water meter in your basement. The pump itself is easily attached to the ceiling or ceiling joist above your sump well.

Once the sump well water level reaches a pre-set height, the hydraulic float switch automatically activates Water Commander™. Sump water is quickly drawn out of the well with a strong suction from Water Commander's™ powerful jet pump and is discharged to the exterior. As soon as the sump well is almost empty, Water Commander™ automatically shuts off until needed again.

There is no limit to the number of times Water Commander™ will automatically start, nor is there a limit to the amount of time it will run. If necessary, Water Commander™ runs continuously. Even if you are on an extended trip, Water Commander™ will stay on active duty.

Water Commander™ reliably operates as a completely independent system, not interconnected with your primary sump pump. Its separate discharge pipe provides protection against a backup caused by a frozen primary discharge line.

Advantages of  Water Commander

  • Uses water power to operate – no battery or electricity needed

Kicks in, if needed, during power outages or primary sump pump failure

Works in tandem with your electrical sump pump, if necessary, in an extreme downpour

  • Starts automatically - no need to be home as you would if using a generator

    Handles solids up to a diameter of  .033” (MG22) or .042” (MG36)

Easily mounts on ceiling above sump well or can be mounted in various positions (vertical or horizontal) as situation requires.  Suction / discharge lines can have    multiple 90° turns.

  • Operation is silent

The superior residential water-powered backup sump pump

WATER COMMANDER™ is the ONLY water-powered backup sump pump for ¾ inch or 1 inch residential pipe that will remove up to 1,324 (¾" pipe) or 2,160 (1" pipe) gallons per hour at 10 foot lift. (See Tables) Up to 77% more water is removed per hour than the next highest rated water-powered backup sump pump available for home use.

WATER COMMANDER™ is the ONLY ceiling mounted backup pump that pumps at a 1:2 ratio at 60 PSI. That means for every gallon of city water introduced, two gallons of sump water will be ejected from your sump well! Other ceiling mounted models are limited to a 1:1 ratio, meaning if your municipal water flow is 10 gallons per minute (600 gal/hour), your sump can only pump 600 gal/hour. You will never be able to remove more than that amount from your sump well even under ideal conditions.

Water-powered backup pumps that are located down in the sump well, to which city water must be pumped downward from the main water line, are advertised to pump at a 1:2 ratio. However, the total amount pumped upward and out of the basement includes BOTH city water and sump water. These models can typically pump no more than 8 gallons per minute out of the sump well under the best conditions. Under this scenario, a 750 gallon per hour rating would include both city and sump water, and be inadequate for a good backup system.
